Children’s Day: Ondo Speaker promises to promote child rights act

By Josephine Oguntoyinbo

As children in Ondo State joined their counterparts across the country to mark this year’s Children’s Day, the Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olamide Oladiji, has assured that all efforts will be made to promote the Child Rights Act (2003) in the state.

In a goodwill message personally signed by the Speaker today in Akure, Oladiji explained that the Act is expected to guarantee every child’s right to survival, protection, participation, and development.

Describing children as gifts from God, he expressed appreciation to the Governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for reviving the Children’s Parliament after over ten years of inactivity.

According to him, the Ondo State House of Assembly will continue to support relevant authorities in ensuring that children are given a voice, assuring that the Children’s Parliament will also provide them with a platform for meaningful engagement.

“You are the pride of our dear country. You are the future leaders, innovators, and change-makers. Keep shining, exploring, and dreaming big,” the statement read.

While felicitating all children in the state on this auspicious day, Oladiji wished them a day filled with fun and adventure.
