Children’s Day: Owo FRSC celebrates youths

Owo Unit Command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps, FRSC, during the weekend held its 2023 edition of the Road Safety Club Quiz Competition.

The competition which attracted students from secondary schools in Owo Local Government, had 12 schools as participants.

Ondo State Sector Commander,  Corps Commander Ezekiel Son-Allah, who disclosed that Owo Unit is the first place he would be witnessing the programme since his assumption of office in the state, commended the commander and men of the unit for their vision and courage.

Son-Allah who said the mission of the Road Safety Club is to eradicate traffic offences and what the members need to do to realise what they want  to become, charged them to take the messages to their parents.

Earlier in his speech at the occasion,  the unit Commander, Austin Ekele, said the event which has become an annual programme since his assumption of office  as the head of the command, was to inculcate the ideals of safe reading culture in the students.

Ekele who disclosed that the theme of this year’s programme “The Role of Younger Generation in Building a Safer Culture,”   was selected to emphasise the Corps crusade for safer roads, using the younger ones as a vehicle.

Earlier,  in the lecture titled “Legal Implication On Social Vices,” Akinola Faith-Lois, the  guest speaker,  took the participants through the consequences of cyber crimes, cultism, indecent dressing and nudity, drug abuse.

Faith-Lois charged them to make up their mind to be responsible digital citizens.

At the end of the captivating and intellectually packed quiz programme,  Imade College, Owo, Ahhamdiyyah Grammar School, Owo and Saint Louis Girls Grammar school,  also in Owo, came first, second and third respectively.

The winners went home with various prizes for individual participation and their school’s.
