Well-meaning individuals and Non-Governmental organisations in the society have been admonished to come to the aid of children of the less privileged in the society with a view to helping them providing necessary educational materials as they resumed for 2018/19 academic session.

Giving the admonition yesterday was Pastor Dayo Akindunbi, Pastor in-charge of Sufficient Grace Zone, The Redeemed Christian Church of God, (RCCG), Ondo Province 1, while distributing thousands of notebooks and other writing materials such as biros, pencils with erasers, to pupils of St. Augustine’s Catholic RCM Pry School,  Ipinsa and Ilere Community Pry School, all in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State.

Pastor Akindunbi explained that the annual distribution of books and other writing materials to students in public primary schools was part of the Christian Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), as directed by its General Overseer,  Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, to assist the less privileged in their academic career, as a way of contributing to the society.

He said various books have also been distributed to all students in the church right from Primary school level to the university level as a way of putting smiles on the faces of the less privileged in the society.

He observed that parents of the beneficiary students could not afford to provide necessary materials for the educational needs of their wards,  hence the need for well-meaning individuals, Non-Governmental organisations and other relevant stakeholders to complement government’s efforts by assisting the less privileged in the society.

The pastor in-charge noted that so far, the church has distributed over 5,000 notebooks and other writing materials to the school pupils and will still cover other areas such as RCCG Highly Favoured Parish, RCCG House of Grace, Ilara, RCCG Great Grace among others, under the zone for the 2018/19 academic session.

He equally advised the pupils to make judicious use of the writing materials and face their studies so that they can be greater in life. Over 200 pupils from the two schools benefited from the gesture.

He stressed that the church will continue to do its best to put smiles on the faces of the less privileged in the society, just as he lauded the school teachers for their efforts aimed at developing the students.

In separate interviews, the Assistant Head Mistress, St.  Augustine’s RCM Pry School, Ipinsa, Mrs Oladejobi Funke and the Assistant HM,  Ilere Community Pry School, Mrs Olatunji Olajumoke, appreciated the Pastor Dayo Akindunbi and his team for the kind gesture which they said will assist the pupils in their academic pursuit.

They further gave kudos to the church for the annual event of distributing thousands of stationeries to the pupils,  which they noted has been relieving parents of the huge cost of school materials.

They prayed for more God’s blessings, anointing, provisions and protection for their families. They promised to monitor the students to ensure the books and other writing materials are used for the purpose they are meant for. Some of the beneficiary students, who could not hide their joy, thanked the donors for remembering them.

Earlier, the HOD of the welfare department and Secretary Team Nehemiah, Deaconess Esther Akinbolusire, said as a mother, she was very happy with the gesture, saying that many parents are finding it difficult to buy the materials provided by the church.

She said the books will go a long way in reducing financial challenges being faced by parents.

On his part, the Chairman of the church Team Nehemiah, the team in-charge of the book distribution, Hon. Gbenga Oshindoro, noted that the funds used in purchasing the materials were raised by well-meaning individuals in the church with a view to helping the needy.
