Civil servants have been charged to regularly create time to engage in exercises of their choice to keep them physically fit and stay healthy at all time.
The zonal director federal radio corporation Ibadan zonal station Alhaji Mohammed Bello gave the advice during the finals of the 1st MB interdepartmental table tennis challenge, put together by positive FM Akure for its staff get together.
Alhaji Bello noted that such indoor games are necessary and played key roles in fostering unity among staff, promote good health which he said was good for all civil servants irrespective of their agency and responsibilities.
He further announced that the event will henceforth become a yearly tournament.
Speaking, the games coordinator and the Ondo State Sports wWriters Association of Nigeria (SWAN) assistant secretary Isaac Afolabi said the aim of the table tennis challenge was to ease the daily activities of staffers with exercise which he said will help each player physically and health wise.
Afolabi further stressed that a total of 16 players, two from each department were nominated by head of each department in the station to participate from the elimination stage to the finals.
In the final Olumide Odeyemi of the programs department defeated Leke Adegbite of the news department to emerge winner of the interdepartmental table tennis challenge.
Earlier, the zonal director Alhaji Mohammed Bello played a novelty game with Ondo state paralympian table tennis coach Mr Ayodeji Ezekiel, the game ended in favour of the zonal director .
Cash gift and trophy were presented to the first and second runners up.
Dignitaries from all walks of life, staffs friends and lovers of positive 102.5fm Akure graced the occasion including the Chief Imam of Akure Alhaji Yayi Akorede, Pastor Kolade Oluwole of the prophetic grace church Akure, Olu of Ita Oniyan Oba Akinyemi Olumuyiwa.
