CLEEN Foundation, women mediator organise media parley

No fewer than eight local government areas across Kaduna State have benefited from the mediating activities and awareness programme of Kaduna State Women Mediator Network on marital and other problems.
This was disclosed by the Kaduna State chairperson of Women Mediator Network, Professor Hauwa’u Yusuf at a media parley held at the Kaduna State Media Corporation
According to Prof. Yusuf, marital disputes, Women and Young girls on drugs, family disputes, high rates of prostitution among others, are some of the activities of the NGO.
The Women Mediator in collaboration with CLEEN Foundation, Norwegian Embassy, UNWomen and others are planning to bring male counterparts into the movement through an NGO called He4She.
Chairperson of the Network said they are ready to work with any group with common interest at any given time.
Prof.Yusuf encouraged Women to embrace the opportunities as all necessary stakeholders are involved in the movement,
“We have involved Royal Highnesses Traditional Rulers, village Heads and Security Agencies. Psychologists, former governors etc, are all part of the movement”, she added.
The body has also informed all councils at the Emirates to have the representatives in each of its sitting to handle any gender issues that concern women and family disputes to make the work simple and easy to settle.
According to her, the Multi- Door mediator Network has gone round solving disputes among family members, between husband and wife, building up skills among marriages.
“With women mediators in each community, people will have a peaceful home, there will be more conflict resolution, stability and progress in family, community in Kaduna State, the nation and World at Large,” the professor stressed.
The parley also called on women who are facing difficulties in their marriages to come out and voice out because, the Women Mediators are all around, close at the door steps, ready to work when called upon.
