A Christian cleric has called on Nigerians to embrace love and deepen their understanding of God’s word to foster a decent and harmonious society.

The Vicar of Emmanuel Anglican Church, Edo Ikare Akoko, Venerable Isaac Awowole, made this appeal during his Sunday sermon, lamenting that love has diminished both at the family and national levels, creating room for doubt and suspicion among citizens.

He urged Nigerians, regardless of religion, creed, political affiliation, or ethnic background, to recognize the crucial role love plays in nation-building.

According to him, challenging times like these demand genuine love and support from the privileged to the less fortunate.

Awowole also encouraged Nigerians to prioritize charity over extravagant spending, stressing the need to avoid wasteful lifestyles while many struggle with poverty.

Also, he appealed to the government at all levels to ensure that the upcoming fiscal year’s budget addresses the hardship caused by the removal of the fuel subsidy.
