CMD, Corps Member donate equipment to hospital

Ondo State Commissioner for Health, Dr Wahab Adegbenro has charged health workers to put in their best in discharging their duties just as he reiterated government’s resolve to provide the necessary facilities and personnel needed to bring improvement to the health system of the state.

He gave the charge while addressing the members of staff of Idanre General Hospital, Alade – Idanre after commissioning some facilities donated to the hospital by both the hospital’s Medical Director, Dr. Kayode Omisogbon and a 2011 batch A stream 1 Corp member, Dr. Gift Orukpe at the hospital premises.

According to him, nobody can reward the services of health workers as they deal with lives, but it is important that they work diligently, so as to have an improved health services.

While commending the donors, he noted that the country could get better if she had selfless leaders adding that their contributions would go a long way in re-branding the hospital.

He commended the staff for working tirelessly in reviving the hospital’s lost glory and added that more improvement would be noticed there when the Contributory Health Scheme commences.

He said; “By the time the Contributory Health Scheme comes up, you will have a lot of enrollees here and as such,  the facility will have to compete with other private facilities. With this on ground, there will be more money to do other things aimed at delivering quality healthcare services to citizens.”

In his remarks, Permanent Secretary, State Hospital Management Board, Dr. Niran Ikuomola also commended the staff for turning around the hospital’s fortune, noting that “despite the fact that you are running the hospital with limited resources, you have achieved this with your cooperation.

“You have not gotten all you need, but you have used the little you have well. This means that when we give you more resources and staff,  you will have better improvement in your services.”

While assuring that government would provide more personnel in the hospital, he stressed the need for discipline and more commitment among the staff saying “you have to come to work earlier and do the right thing at the right time.”

While appreciating the hospital’s Medical Director, he described him as a visionary leader and advised that other health workers in the state should emulate him.

Speaking earlier, Dr. Omisogbon while expressing appreciation to the state government for priotising the health of its citizens, noted that there had been high level of improvement in the hospital in the last few months saying “today,  we run a 24/7 service with doctors on ground.”

He appealed to government to post more staff, especially nurses to the hospital.

Facilities donated were; a laundry building by Dr. Omisogbon and a public toilet consisting male and female toilet by Dr. Orukpe.
