Coconut fruits and its health benefits

Coconut is the fruit of the coconut palm with the scientific name Cocos Nuciferia. It has been grown in tropical regions for more than 4,500 years. The fruit originated from India and Southeast Asia. Today, coconuts grow in warm climates across the globe such as the Caribbean, parts of Africa like Nigeria and South America. Coconut is prominent for its flavor, culinary uses and potential health benefits.
Coconut trees are brilliant sources of food, oil, fiber and wood. The large fruits coconut water, milk, oil and meat. Coconut meat is the edible white flesh lining the inside of a coconut, also called the “Kernel”. It has a sweet taste alongside coconut milk and oil. Coconut meat has become a popular snack and ingredient in cooking, partly due to its many health benefits, people can eat coconut meat either fresh or dried.
The meat contains nutrients like carbohydrate; which is the primary source of energy and also helps to build macro-molecules.
Also, it supplies protein which helps to build and repair body tissues and Fiber that helps to lower cholesterol level and also help to control sugar level as well as some essential mineral minerals such as Iron, which is important in making red blood cells which carries oxygen around the body and also supports healthy skin, hair and nails.
Magnesium, which helps to lower blood pressure, to maintain normal nerves and muscle function it also helps to fight depression.
Phosphorus which is an essential mineral in the body which helps to build strong healthy bones.
Copper, a mineral that works with iron to help the body from red blood cells and also keep the nerves, immune system and bones healthy).
Manganese, which helps in fat and carbohydrate metabolism, calcium absorption and blood sugar regulation, it also helps in normal brain and nerve function)
Potassium, a type mineral that serves as electrolyte which helps to regulate fluid balance, muscle contractions and nerve signal,
Zinc, a very important mineral which helps in wound healing, sense of taste and smell, it also helps the immune system and metabolism function.
With the nutrients present in coconut, the body utilizes those nutrients to enhance the body system in a healthy ways,
First, coconuts meat contains large amounts of medium chain fatty acids (MCFAs), a type of saturated fat that is much easier for the human body to digest than animal fats, these fats are good for trained athletes to boost their endurance
Second, coconuts enhances weight loss, though it contains saturated fats (fat solid at room temperature), it is not as dangerous as saturated fat soaked in high calories and cholesterol. Coconut contains medium chain fatty acids that not only aids in weight loss but boost metabolism. The fat burns off as energy rather than sticking to your belly; it also maintains a balance in your digestive tract and detoxifies your body. If you are having trouble losing weight then you should look into consuming coconuts.
Coconuts fight Bacteria: – Coconuts contain lauric acid, which when digested forms a substance called monolaurin. These substances help to fight against fungi, viruses and bacteria to keep infections at bay. Coconuts can help kill bacteria like staphylococcus aureus and the yeast Candida aibicans, a common source of yeast infections in humans.
Also, coconuts Keeps you hydrated, you get all the electrolytes needed by consuming water found in young coconuts. It is the highest rated source of electrolytes, which is primarily responsible for keeping your body hydrated. It will also keep your nerves and muscles functioning optimally.
In addition, coconuts help to improve Skin Health, all you need for your skin to look healthy and young is coconut oil. It contains antioxidants that slow down the aging process and protects your skin from harmful radiation from the sun.

Furthermore, coconuts ensures healthy teeth and bones, one of the benefits of eating coconuts daily is that it helps to support the development of healthy teeth and bones. Daily intake will improve your body’s ability to absorb manganese and calcium which is vital for bone development and also serve as prevention for osteoporosis (a condition responsible for making bones fragile and thin while causing loss of density).
Lastly coconuts can eliminate scalp infections, it contains the anti-fungal and anti bacterial properties that will protect the scalp from lice, dandruff and itchy scalp which are responsible for reducing hair growth.
