The Chief Imam of Akure Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede, has implored President Bola Tinúbu to intensify efforts in waging war against hunger and starvation ravaging the people of the country.

Yayi-Akorede gave the advice  during the Eid-el-Kabir celebration held at the Akure praying ground on Sunday.

He noted that people in the country are facing untold hardship as a result of the high cost of goods and services, which has made the country unbearable.

According to him, the president should endeavor to make the country a better place to live, as he did in ensuring the National Anthem Bill 2024 revert to the old national anthem got accelerated passage by the National Assembly.

While condemning a proposed bill to grant cows citizenship in Nigeria by one of the Senators at the National Assembly, the cleric asked why bills that can better the lives of Nigerians through the creation of employment, distribution of funds, and other measures are not presented to the National Assembly for consideration.

He enjoined the State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to make the best use of his position as the governor to better the lives of residents.

While praying for the country and the state, Yayi-Akorede urged Aiyedatiwa to continue the good work left behind by his late boss, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Speaking on the upcoming governorship election in the state, the cleric called on the stakeholders to do the needful in ensuring the election is peacefully conducted devoid  any form of mayhem .

He reminded Muslim faithful to keep to the lessons of the celebration displayed by the Prophet Ibrahim (A.S.) as a “father of faith” who accepted to slaughter his son Ismail for the fear of Allah in fulfillment of his promise to Him.

He cautioned the faithful not to attribute other gods to Allah as those who fear and worship Him alone do not lack and are free from the troubles of life and hereafter.
