Sunshine Stars captain Sunday Abe has charged upcoming football stars in Ondo State and beyond to combine education with their careers.
He said the aims and objectives of Abe and Friends foundation was to organize a competition match for U -12 player in the state was to raise future football players in the state and in its environ to stardom.
The Sunshine Stars skipper said the foundation is also encouraging the young players to combine education with football to enable them has some things to fall back on when they retired.
He added that the criteria for participate in the U- 12 football competition was for the underage players to present their academy report card to the organization before they could be allowed to be part of the competition.
Abe stated this at the end of the 14th edition of Abe and Friends football reunion held at the Ondo State Sports complex, Akure the state capital.
He disclosed that the outstanding players among the U-12 players would be recommended for Nigeria national U 15 team.
He said: We have been doing this in the last 14years , but I can tell you that this year’s event is exceptionally different in term of organisation and the fans turn out .
“We will keep improving on our efforts and in no distant time, the results will be manifesting when the kids from Ondo State will be donning the national colour.
“We urge our supporters to keep faith with us that we will not disappoint them and the new year will be better in all ramifications.”
Cash prizes were presented to the highest goal scorer, MVP and others.
Ex- International fixtured in the ceremonial match include : 2013 African Cup winner, Cup winner, Geoffrey Oboabana, Tunde Adeniji, Franklin Sasere among others.
