Commission boosts staff efficiency with tech training

As part of efforts to promote professionalism and enhance efficient service delivery, the Ondo State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC) has organised a training programme for confidential secretaries and computer operators in the commission.
The one-day capacity building workshop, themed “Advanced Office Technology and Management”, was held at the Okitipupa Local Government Secretariat.
It was attended by confidential secretaries and computer operators from the Ondo South Senatorial District.
Declaring the event open, the Chairman of the Commission, Femi Idris, stated that the programme was part of the commission’s initiatives to train staff for improved performance and to align them with technological advancements, enabling them to apply modern technology in their daily tasks.
The chairman, who was represented by the Commissioner in charge of Training and Manpower Development, Mr. Ife Iji, reiterated that the programme aimed to equip this category of workers with skills for better service delivery.
He advised participants to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop in their respective offices.
Earlier, in his keynote address delivered on the occasion, the Permanent Secretary of the Local Government Service Commission, Dr. Bayo Ilawole, explained that the training was part of the commission’s mandate to equip workers for effective and efficient service delivery.
He encouraged the participants to embrace modern technological advancements in carrying out their duties and also emphasised the ethical responsibilities of a modern confidential secretary.
Describing the role of a confidential secretary as pivotal to the administration of any organisation, Dr. Ilawole expressed confidence that the workshop would further enhance job performance.
Present at the event were the Commissioner in charge of Works and Infrastructural Development, Mr. Alonge Niyi-Dennis; Mrs. Ronke Ojo, Commissioner in charge of Appointment and Posting; and Barr. Oye Ogbaro, Commissioner in charge of Promotion, Conversion and Advancement, among other top management staff of the commission.
