The Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development in Ondo State, Mr Dele Ologun has assured the players and crew of Sunshine Stars that the success and welfare of the team will be a top priority under his watch.

Ologun whose ministry now oversees the affairs of the Ondo State Football Agency (ODSFA), gave the assurance during a meeting with the players and officials of Sunshine Stars at the swimming pool stands of the State Sports Complex in Akure.

He also announced ex- Nigeria International, Prince Babatunde Ogunja as the Agency’s Coordinator General.

He said: “I congratulate you for a good season that is better than the previous ones and I must say the Deputy Governor (Lucky Aiyedatiwa) and the Management Committee did a great job. We will take it up from where they stopped; we are not going to go low, we can only do better in relation to your motivation and all that can make you do better.

“We will look into a lot of things; your contracts and others, I have been getting briefing on these. It’s still going to be business but not business as usual.

What I need from you is 100% dedication and readiness to reach our goal. Next season we want to be in the top three and all hands must be on deck. We are going forward,” Ologun stated.

While speaking, the new Coordinator General of ODSFA, Prince Ogunja who shared the sentiments of the Commissioner harped on the need to recuperate and re-strategise for a better outing next season.

“I want to thank everybody for your effort during the season. The season has come to an end now and we need to re-energise and re-engineer so by the time you come back you will know what to do. We will keep the team abreast ahead of the new season,” Ogunja submitted.

Reacting on behalf of the players, Sunshine Stars’ captain Sunday Abe stated: _”first of all I really want to thank the Deputy Governor, he really tried for us; we get our salaries and bonuses regularly this season and thank you too my Honourable Commissioner for what you are already doing for us. On behalf of the players I promise you we will work and cooperate with you to do better next season.”
