Commit to farming to eradicate hunger – Adetula

Nigerians have been called upon to take agriculture seriously as a means to overcome the prevailing economic challenges facing the nation.
Chairman and Editor-in-Chief of Owena Press Limited, Sir Ademola Adetula, MFR, made this appeal yesterday during Agbe Ladun, a nongovernmental organization visit to at his office.
Adetula pointed out that hunger crisis in Nigeria is largely self-inflicted and can be alleviated if Nigerians commit their resources to farming.
Reflecting on the past, Adetula noted that about 40 years ago, the country experienced food sufficiency due to a strong agricultural culture.
He emphasized that every Nigerian has a role in eradicating hunger, and the current situation should serve as a wake-up call for all.
Adetula warned that without economic independence, Nigeria would be vulnerable to external influences, leading to severe consequences if the country cannot achieve self-sufficiency in food production.
He commended Agbe Ladun for its initiative in encouraging Nigerians to return to farming and assured that organization of Owena Press Limited will support in promoting its activities.
Franklin Fadoju, Chairman of Agbe Ladun, highlighted the organization’s efforts to assist vulnerable members of the society.
Fadoju, who led the delegation, noted that the association boasts of over 5,000 members statewide and has conducted capacity-building trainings for farmers across the three senatorial districts.
The training aim to educate farmers on the cultivation of crops such as tomatoes, onions, and peppers.
Fadoju sought the company’s support in raising awareness of the association’s activities through a strategic partnership.
The meeting was attended by Admin Manager Mr. Kole Akinjeji, Advert Manager Mrs. Ronke Elegbe, Chief Accountant, Mrs. Abosede Owoyemi, Production Manager Mr. Gbenga Oloruntobi, and Circulation Manager, Mr. Ayokunle Awe.
