‘Communities’ support ‘ll improve healthcare delivery’

Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Hospitals Management Board (HMB), Dr. Niran Ikuomola has called for more community participation in the various healthcare facilities in order to improve the quality of healthcare delivery in the state.

He made the call while speaking with The Hope in Akure on the outcome of the board’s monitoring visit to some secondary health facilities in the state.

According to him, the support from communities elevates the standard of care enjoyed in the various hospitals across the state as it enhances commitment from staff.

Commending Igbotako community for its support for the General Hospital, Igbotako, he noted that the people’s cooperation has contributed in no small measure to the improvement in various services in the hospital.

According to him, the community has helped the facility through the provision of some basic equipment and other infrastructure required in the facility.

He said; “Igbotako community donated laboratory, helped in the renovation of the hospital and also provided accommodation to staff which has enhanced staff commitment in providing quality services to the people.”

While commenting on his team’s visit to Rufus Giwa Memorial Hospital, Oke-Agbe Akoko, he lauded the high level of patients’ patronage in the hospital and called on the community to assist the facility by providing security saying “the staff are ready to provide quality services all through day round.”

He called on health workers to be more committed and also utilise the limited resources in providing quality services to the people of the state.

While stressing the need for them to put in their best, he however charged them to work together in team spirit with both the management and community.

The team also visited General Hospital, Araromi Obu among many others.
