By Tola Gbadamosi

Following the high level of insecurity in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State, the leadership of the community have set up vigilante group to complement the efforts of security agencies in the community.
People of the community converged on Friday mark a year of the passage of Olufon of Ifon, Oba Israel Adegoke Adeusi, who was shot dead by yet-to-be identified gunmen.
Residents of Ifon community gathered together on Friday to mark the first year of the transition of the monarch.
It will be recalled that one of the community’s prominent sons and an All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, Dele Isibor, was also attacked on Ifon-Imoru road as well as the Eze Ndigbo of Ifon who was abducted by gun wielding kidnappers on Monday, November 22, 2021 in the town.
The Ogwadogbon of Ifon and President of Ifon Development Union, Dr. Olufemi Awani, at a Press conference held at Ifon community Hall, stated that the community set up a vigilante group to fortify the efforts of the security agencies on ground.
“As a community, we have been cooperating with the security agencies as much as we can to enhance logistics.
“We have vigilantes and hunters within, who we pay monthly. We are mobilizing them from different locations in the community and ensure we avail them with anything they need to enhance the effectiveness of their work.
“They are always in the forest. But it is when something happens that we call on them. When the incident happened last year, we had people stationed there for a long time at that spot, we cleared the place but we need to understand that there is a limit to what the community can do. We will continue to support the securities, that is why we have a development forum.
The security agencies are also doing their part towards ensuring that the people are secured. They are trying,” he said.
