Cop killed wife for querying him over a strange woman

Facts have emerged on what led a policeman, Sergeant Saliu Tolupe, attached with the Akungba Akoko Police Division, to kill his wife and himself.

The late cop had last Tuesday killed his wife, a mother of two and himself over alleged infidelity.

Police investigations have revealed that the policeman killed the wife for querying him on the identity of another woman she met in his house on the fateful day.

The Hope Metro learnt that on that day, the late wife who was on a visit to Akungba where her husband was newly transferred, met another woman in Tolulope’s apartment which led to a quarrel between them.

The source said, “it was the noise of gunshots that drew the attention of their co-tenants and his colleague police officers as the station where the late policeman served is also directly opposite his house”.

 On rushing to the place, they reportedly met the couple dead on the floor in the pool of their own blood, while their two children; a two-year-old and a three months old were found in the room.

The situation drew tears from the eyes of many at the scene as they wept profusely.

It was learnt that the late policeman must have shot his wife and decided to take his own life when he found out that she had passed out.

An eyewitness who saw the corpses before they were taken to the mortuary said the wife was shot in the face, while Tolulope shot himself in the heart.

 Late Saliu Tolulope was said to be from Mogaji family in Idofin quarters, Supare Akoko, a kilometre distance to Akungba Akoko where he was serving.

 The chairman of PPRC, Akungba Division, Prince Rasheed Ajimo described it as a tragedy and called for proper investigation of the ugly incident.

Efforts to speak with the Divisional Police officer in Akungba Akoko, CSP Sakiru Ajibola, however proved abortive.
