Corps members applaud CBN

National Youth Service Corps members have applauded the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for providing them loans .
Those who spoke with The Hope in Akure described the Bank initiative as a welcome development which according to them will help reduce the rate of unemployment in the country.
Miss Rasidat Adenike Suleiman, who is undergoing her primary assignment with the Ondo State Property and Housing development Corporation appealed that CBN should make the logging site available for interested ‘Corpers’ to apply for the loan.
She said:” I’m aware of the development and appreciate government for this gesture. I urged the CBN to make the logging site accessible so that many of us can also benefit.
Suleiman noted that she has not been able to get the logging site in spite of her several attempts which had deprived her in accessing the loan.
Chilotanna Charity Onyibor, who is serving at Mount Zion Primary and Secondary School at Ikun Akoko area of Ondo state observed that the CBN initiative showed that the nation’s economy has improved and that government has the interest of the Corps members at heart .
While describing the labour market as very competitive, Onyibor noted that the loan will help reduce crime rate, stating that people are into crime because they want to survive.
Salihu Abullahi of the Owena Press Limited applauded the iniative and called on the government to ensure early disbursement.
Abdullahi recalled that he applied for the loan when officials of the bank came to sensitise them at the camp.
He said he got the link through a social network group called ‘Buhari Volunteer’ where he belonged.
“A message was sent to me that my application was successful and that disbursement will commence as from June 24, 2019. I am still waiting to receive the alert”, he said.
It would be recalled that the CBN recently declared it’s readiness to offer Corps members loans to start small and medium scale Enterprises to reduce unemployment rate in the country.
