Corps members charged on COVID-19 protocols

Members of the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to Ekiti State have been charged to join hands with the government in the fight against the dreaded covid-19 pandemic.
The Ekiti State Coordinator of the scheme, Mrs. Mary Chikezie, gave the charge during the official swearing in ceremony of the Batch B stream 1 corps members deployed to the state, held at the NYSC permanent orientation camp.
The NYSC coordinator enjoined members to always adhere strictly to the stipulated protocols of constant wearing of face masks, hands washing regularly and maintenance of physical distancing.
Describing the fight against covid-19 pandemic as a war that must to be fought collectively, Chikezie reminded the corps members to always take cognisance of the letters of undertaking signed during the orientation camp on the need to abide strictly by the safety protocols of the pandemic.
She warned members that any deviation from these protocols will amount to the decamping of such an offender from the orientation exercise.
According to her, “My dear compatriots, your call to serve the nation at this time when the whole world is faced with the new normal way of life due to Covid-19 pandemic shows that together we can win the fight against this dreaded disease; if we all adhere strictly to the preventive protocols as laid down by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) in our own interest.
“It will be noted that in a bid to guarantee the safety of all in camp, management in collaboration with the NCDC put a lot in place in order to ensure the safety of all, during and after the camping exercise.
“It therefore behooves you all, to ensure that you strictly adhere to the stipulated protocols of constant wearing of masks, washing of hands regularly under running water, and maintaining physical distancing” she stated.
While congratulating the corps members on the successful completion of their academic careers in their various institutions of higher learning, she charged them to always contribute their quotas to the reconciliation, reconstruction and rehabilitation of the image of the country which she said are the main objectives of the scheme as contained in the NYSC act.
The Ekiti NYSC helmsman explained that the orientation course which is specially designed to prepare the corps members for the service year both physically and intellectually, also admonished them to participate actively in all activities that will equipped them with the requisite knowledge, skills and ability to transit smoothly into the larger society.
