Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, has charged Corps members posted to the State in the Batch ‘A’ ( Stream 1) of the 2020 service year to look at issues affecting the nation with a positive  mindset of contributing meaningfully to every sector they would be deployed to.

Akeredolu gave the charge at the opening/swearing in ceremony of the orientation course held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ikare Akoko on Thursday.

The governor who was represented at the occasion by the Permanent Secretary, Special Services Department, Cabinet Office, Mr Gbenga Eleruju, called on the corps members to endeavor to leave a lasting legacy which will encourage the populace to call for the sustenance of the project.

He reminisced on the objective of the General Yakubu Gowon administration which founded the scheme as a way of healing the wounds of the Civil war which ravaged the country then and said credit must be given to the former head of state for the scheme which is the best way to restore the country’s unity and rekindle hope by discarding the misconceptions and mistrust of the cold war.

He, therefore enjoined them to see the service as a way of complementing the well outlined programme of the Federal Government to ensure all hands are on deck to take the country out of the myriad of challenges facing the nation.

The governor urged the corps members not to see their coming together as a ploy to foster ethnic, religious or cultural agenda of any zone or region, but a deliberate effort to unite the country.
