Council boss empowers artisans with equipment, cash

The Chairman, Ifedara Local Council Development Area of Ekiti State, Mr. Sunday Ogunsanya has promised regular provision of equipment and resources to the people and security agencies in the council area to enhance their effectiveness and efficiency towards the overall development of the area.

The council boss gave the assurance at Igbemo-Ekiti, headquarters of Ifedara LCDA, during an empowerment programme for farmers, market women, widows, security agencies, artisans and food vendors.

Ogunsanya told the gathering that the empowerment programme was designed to equip the people with skills, knowledge and resources needed to excel in their respective vocations.

Items distributed include grinding machines, motorcycles, sprayers, chemicals, farming implements, first aid boxes, vehicle tyres, reflective jackets and cones, rain boots, torchlights, and cash to support the people in their respective businesses.

Ogunsanya commended the state Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, for his support for the programme and provision of the resources needed by the council areas at the grassroots.

“His Excellency’s commitment to the development of the local communities is truly commendable and we are grateful for his visionary leadership,” he said.

He urged the beneficiaries to use the resources wisely and responsibly, stressing that the items provided for them are meant to empower them, and not to create dependency.

Ogunsanya also admonished them not to sell the items, but to use them to boost their economic growth and self-sufficiency.

The council boss assured of provision of more infrastructure in all the six communities in the area, youth friendly policies to lift them out of unemployment, adequate security measures to protect lives and property of the residents and roads rehabilitation for the people.

In his message at the programme, the Commissioner for Information, Rt. Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, urged the people to use the items wisely to create economic power for themselves, and solicited the support of all stakeholders for the Governor Biodun Oyebanji-led administration in the state.

Present at the empowerment programme were His Royal Majesty, the Onigbemo of Igbemo-Ekiti, Oba Adewumi Daramola; the Regent of Iworoko-Ekiti, Mrs. Adenike Ogundola; Vice Chairman, Ifedara LCDA, Hon. Sola Olowojebutu; Hon. Shina Ogunleye, policemen, members of Amotekun Corps, O.P.C, NSCDC and hunters.
