Chairman of Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State, Mohammed Olawale, has restated his administration’s unwavering commitment to strengthening security architecture across the council area.

Olawale gave the assurance when he received the Army Sector Commander in Ikare, Captain T. Suberu, alongside the Akoko Area Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Assistant Commander of Narcotics (ACN) Mamman Gabriel Garba, during a courtesy visit to the council secretariat in Ikare-Akoko.

The Council Boss lauded the efforts of the Nigerian Army in fostering peace and maintaining law and order within the community, describing their intervention as instrumental in ensuring safety of lives and property.

He said: “We remain committed to strengthening security across Akoko North-East, and we will continue to support the efforts of our security agencies. The safety and well-being of our people are paramount, and we will ensure that all necessary resources are provided to maintain peace in our area.”

During the interaction, ACN Garba expressed concern over the dilapidated state of the NDLEA office located along the Ugbe axis, appealing to the council for urgent renovation assistance to enable the agency function optimally.

Responding, Olawale pledged prompt intervention, noting that the local government would not hesitate to support security agencies with the necessary tools for effective service delivery.

“We understand the importance of providing our security agencies with the tools they need to carry out their duties effectively, and we will look into this matter promptly,” he said.

The council chairman further emphasised the need for sustained collaboration among stakeholders in the security sector, stressing that his administration remains focused on building stronger partnerships for the development and safety of the area.
