The Executive Chairman of Okitipupa Local Government, Andrew Ogunsakin, has called for the establishment of a driver’s licence enrolment and collection centre in Okitipupa to ease the challenges motorists face in obtaining valid licences.
The chairman made this appeal during a courtesy visit by a delegation from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), led by MT. Ojo Gbenga.
At the meeting, discussions focused on key road safety issues and challenges encountered by FRSC personnel in the area.
While commending the FRSC for its commitment to road safety, Ogunsakin pledged his administration’s support in addressing their concerns. He emphasised the need for a local licensing centre, stressing that it would enhance compliance with road regulations and reduce the inconvenience of long-distance travel for motorists seeking to obtain or renew their licences.
He assured the FRSC of the local government’s readiness to collaborate on initiatives that promote road safety and improve service delivery for drivers in Okitipupa.
In response, the FRSC delegation welcomed the proposal, expressing optimism about future partnerships to make the initiative a reality.
