As Ondo State prepares for the swearing-in ceremony of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and his deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, security agencies have assured residents of adequate security before, during, and after the event.

Speaking in an interview with Weekend Hope, the State Commissioner of Police, Wilfred Afolabi reaffirmed the commitment of the police to ensuring law and order, stressing that all necessary measures had been put in place.

“All necessary security measures are in place to guarantee a smooth and safe event. We have profiled all expected guests and have details of their accommodations,” he stated.

He disclosed that police personnel would escort dignitaries from the airport to their hotels and the inauguration venue to ensure their security.

Afolabi urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with security operatives, adding that the police were fully prepared to ensure a peaceful exercise.

In the same vein, the Commander of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that 700 personnel had been mobilised across the state to support security efforts.

He said security strategies had been mapped out to ensure a hitch-free ceremony at the Akure Sports Complex on Monday, February 24, 2025.

“We have assessed potential security threats and delineated operational redlines. Our officers are strategically positioned to ensure a peaceful atmosphere throughout the period,” Adeleye said.

He commended Governor Aiyedatiwa for lifting the curfew earlier imposed on Owo, describing it as a step towards restoring normalcy while maintaining security in the state.

Adeleye, however, warned criminal elements to steer clear of the state, noting that security operatives were on high alert across all the 18 local government areas.

“There is no hiding place for criminals. Our operatives are battle-ready to counter any security threat,” he declared.

He further called on residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities for immediate intervention by security agencies.
