An Akure Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a bricklayer, Kehinde Isa, to four years in prison for breaking into a house and stealing items worth ₦2.9 million.
The convict was charged with unlawful entry into a house located in Akure South Local Government Area on or about December 23, 2024, at 4:11 p.m.
The stolen items included three Amplifier MP 1800s, thirteen Hcore copper cables, and eighteen IMC wire microphones, all valued at ₦2,935,000, belonging to one Olowomeye Damilola.
The state prosecutor, Ds. Msonter-Shagba, informed the court that Isa’s actions violated Sections 383, 390(10), 410, and 413 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol. 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.
Upon arraignment, the defendant pleaded guilty to the charges, prompting the prosecutor to request a suitable sentence as a deterrent.
In his judgment, Magistrate Damilola Sekoni described the offence as serious and sentenced Isa to four years in prison without the option of a fine.
