Chief Magistrate, Sekoni, sentenced the duo after they pleaded guilty to conspiracy and stealing.
The Ondo State Security Network Agency codenamed Amotekun Corps arraigned the convicts on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
Earlier the Prosecutor, O.F Akeredolu, told the court that the defendants were employed by the Araromi Obu Ayesan Oil-Palm Company, but to dismay of the company’s management, they were the ones stealing the produce from the company before they were eventually apprehended.
Akeredolu said the defendants committed the offence on November 1, 2021, at about 6:30p.m at Araromi, Odigbo.
He also said the defendants conspired to commit felony and stole eight bags of palm fruits, valued at N150,000.00, property of Araromi Obu Oil-Palm.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9) of the Criminal Code Law, Cap 37, Vol.1 of the Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2016
The defendants pleaded guilty to the offence they were charged with, while the Defence Counsel, T. Sunday prayed the court to show them mercy on the ground that the first defendant is an old man that has many dependants.
Consequently, Magistrate Sekoni, sentenced the duo to two years imprisonment.
