Court jails teenage drummer for stealing

An 18-year-old local drummer, Ayomide Akinduro, has been sentenced to three months imprisonment by an Ondo Chief Magistrate Court, over attempt to steal at Mega Primary School in Ondo.

According to the prosecution, the convict committed the offence on February 21, 2024, at about 1:20pm, at Ayeyemi in Ondo town.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Mosunmola Ikujuni, in her judgment, found the accused guilty and sentenced him to three months imprisonment with an option of N50,000 fine.

The court, however directed the prison officials to ensure that the convict is released when the fine as been paid into government’s account.

Prior to his conviction, Akinduro, who admitted committing the offence, prayed the court for leniency, saying, he would not do such again.

Prostrating in the dock, the convict pleaded, “I only pray for forgiveness for all I have done. I entered the school compound to cut plantain because I’m hungry. And the charm they saw on me is for bad thing not to happen to me. It is called”isora”. I don’t know what happened.

The prosecutor, Inspector Moremi Akao, urged the court to give judgment, according to the plea of the defendant.
