Court remands bag snatchers in prison custody

Three men,Olusegun Dada 18, Wale Ayenimowa, 19, and Mutairu Ismaila 20, allegedly involved in snatching bags, are now cooling their feets at the Olokuta prison.
An Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting at Oke-Eda, on Friday ordered that the trio accused persons be remanded over two-count charges of assault and stealing.
The Hope Metro gathered that on January 7, this year, at about 11:00pm, the boys and others yet to be arrested, assaulted a man, one Tope Sekore, at Sabo, Odo-ijoka, Akure.
They were alleged of beating the man with fist blow, afterwhich they snatched his bag containing N15,000, Union bank ATM card, and his bunch of keys.
The police prosecutor, Sgt. Sulaiman Abdulateef said the offences contravened Sections 351 and 390{9}of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria 2006.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the three count – charges .read to them.
Lawyer who appeared for the accused, Mr O. O Adedugbe, did not oppose the application for adjournment made by the prosecutor. But he prayed the court to grant his clients bail in most liberal term.
In her ruling, The Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, ordered the remand of the three defendants in Olokuta prison for a month considering some circumstances of the case.
She adjourned the case till February 11, 2019 for mention.
