The embatled father who allegedly molested his 12-year-old, Mr. Davies Noel, has been remanded in prison by an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrate Court.
The 52-year-old varsity worker and information and Technology expert , who has been arrested by the police in the state and detained for days, was later brought to court amidst tight security.
Noel, who looked miserable, was accompanied by some members of the Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Ekiti State chapter and police officers from the department of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ekiti State Command.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Leramo Caleb, told the court that the suspect, who is a resident of Peace Avenue, Ado-Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, started having carnal knowledge of his biological daughter since year 2018 till October 2019.
According to Caleb, the twelve-year-old girl , who is a student of one of the public secondary schools in Ado-Ekiti later narrated her ordeal to her schoolmate, who later reported the matter to the police.
He explained further that the accused person had made reliable statement during interogations and that he had confessed to the crime, while the medical report conducted on the victim showed that her hymen has been broken.
The offence, according to the prosecution contravened section 214 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
But the suspect had pleaded not guilty to the offences.
The Magistrate, Mr Abdullamid Lawal, after listening to the prosecutor, ordered the remand of the accused in the prison custody.
He adjourned the case till November 11, 2019 for mention.
