For removing a teenager’s pant without her consent, the Osogbo Magistrates’ Court has remanded a 29-year-old man, Rasaq Iyanda, in Ilesa prison.
Rasaq was said to have removed the pant of Aishat Raheem, 13, while she was sleeping in her house, on February 6, 2019 at about 2:00am, at Dalegan Compound, Osogbo.
The accused person pleaded guilty to the one count-charge of unlawful and indecent assault.
Counsel to the accused person, Mr. Tunbosun Oladipupo prayed the court to grant his client bail.
But the police prosecutor, Inspector, Joshua Oladoye, objected the plea of the counsel, noting that the offence committed is rampant in the society and if granted bail, the accused would not stand to face trial.
The father of the girl, Mr. Raheem, while narrating how it happened said his daughter suddenly shouted when she woke up in the morning and discovered that her pant was gone.
He said he had to take the entire occupants of the house to a herbalist and it was there they discovered the accused was the person who stole the pant among them.
The Magistrate, Mrs Mary Awodele, ordered the accused person to be remanded in Ilesa Prison.
She adjourned the case till Tuesday, March 12, 2019 for ruling.
