Court remands mechanic who converted customer’s car

A 39-year-old man, Seun Adejuyigbe, has been remanded at Olokuta correctional centre over car conversion.

The defendant who was arraigned in an Akure Chief Magistrate Court allegedly converted  one Nissan Altima car brought to him for repair, into his own use.

The police prosecutor, Supol Martins Olowofeso told the Court that Adejuyigbe committed the offence in January, 2019  New street, Oke Ogba Akure.

According to Martins, the vehicle, valued at N1,400,000, belongs to one Mrs Olaosebikan Abiodun Mary.

The offence committed is contrary to Section 383(1) and punishable under Section 390(9), of the Criminal Code Cap. 37. Volume 1, Laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.

The defendant who had no legal representation, pleaded guilty to the charge leveled against him.

In her ruling, Magistrate R.A Olumiliua ordered the remand of the defendant at Olokuta prison.

She, thereafter adjourned the case till January 25, 2023, for hearing.
