A serial burglar, Sunday Omojowo, alleged of breaking into a shop and stealing, has been remanded at the Olokuta Correctional Centre by an Akure Chief Magistrate Court.
Omojowo, 38, whose address was not provided was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Musa Al-Yunus, on four counts of felony, conspiracy, burglary, and stealing.
According to the police prosecutor, Nelson Akintimehin, the defendant conspired with other suspects at large to commit the offences between March 2023 and August 25, 2023, at various times at No. 160, Arakale Street, Akure.
The prosecutor told the court that Omojowo broke into a store adjacent to the dwelling house of one Okechukwu Ojiakor, the complainant, with the intent to commit a felony.
He alleged that Omojowo stole 230 pieces of designed iron door plate valued at N1, 564,000, property of the complainant.
Akintimehin added that at about 10am on September 3, 2023, at Oba-Ile Divisional Police Headquarters in Oba-Ile Akure North local government, the defendant escaped from lawful custody.
The offences, he said, contravened Sections 516, 411, 412, 390(9), and 135 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
Omojowo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
The Chief Magistrate, therefore, ordered his remand in the correctional centre and adjourned the matter till October 10, 2023, for a hearing
