Two men, Moses Akinola, 27 and Adegboyega Olalekan, 20, who allegedly defiled a teenager (names withheld), have been remanded in prison custody by an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court on Monday.
The accused persons who were accused of assaulting the girl committed the offence on March 2, 2019 around 2:00 pm at Agaun area in Ile-Ife.
The prosecutor, Inspector Joseph Adebayo, told the court that the accused persons conspired among themselves to commit felony to wit: defilement and indecent assault by unlawfully having carnal knowledge of the 14-year-old girl.
The offence, was said to contravene sections: 221, 360 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defence counsels, Mrs Salawu S. O. and Mr Obi Samuel, prayed the court to grant the accused persons bail.
But Magistrate Muhibah Olatunji, declined the bail application of the accused, saying a formal application must be presented for the consideration of their bail.
Olatunji, therefore, ordered the remand of the accused in Ile-Ife prison custody pending the bail consideration.
He ordered the prosecutor to duplicate the case file and send it to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.
The case was adjourned until March 23, 2019 for definite hearing.
