An Osogbo Magistrate’s Court has sentenced a 35 -year-old man, Sheed Ishola, to two years imprisonment for stealing, without an option of fine.
Ishola was brought before the court by men of Osun State Police Command for stealing one Mazda gear valued at N100, 000, property of one Jazeem Alimi.
According to the charge, the defendant committed the offence on June 11,2022 at about 6pm at Owo – Eba area of Owode Ilesa road in Osogbo .
The defendant was also alleged of stealing the complete engine of the said Mazda vehicle valued at N150, 000.
The offence is contrary to and punishable under Section 390 (9) of Criminal Code Cap 34 Volume 11 Laws of Osun State 20O2.
When the charge was read to the defendant, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecutor, inspector Olayiwola told the court that the defendant had earlier been convicted on two different occasions on same case of stealing.
Olayiwola stated that the defendant has equally pleaded guilty to the offence brought against him and as such should be sentenced to serve as deterrent to others.
He submitted that granting him bail will not augur well in the society.
Prior to the judgement, the defendant pleaded for leniency, saying that he is an ulcer patient.
The trial Magistrate, E. O Abuko said since the defendant has been a serial offender and has not repented of same offence, he deserved no mercy.
Abuko, therefore, sentenced him to two years In imprisonment without an option of fine.
