COVID-19: Akoko residents advised on hygienic lifestyle

The people of Gedegede and Ajowa in Akoko Akoko Northwest Area of Ondo State have been urged to embrace hygienic lifestyle devoid of any disease now that COVID-19 and its Delta variant are ravaging the country.
A team of sanitary officials who stormed the towns on routine health inspection gave the advice on Thursday .
The health inspection was aimed at making people comply with health standard that guarantee healthy living.
Some of the targeted facilities that residents lacked were toilets, clearing of waterways, food vendors attitudes to health and wrongful disposal of refuse.
The leader of the health team and the Director of Environmental Services in Akoko Northwest Local Government, Mrs Yemisi Adeniyi frowned at open defecation, embalment of dead persons in residential houses instead of mortuary, blockage of drainages and waterways which often results in flooding .
Mrs Adeniyi said the council authority was viewing all these with seriousness.
She called on market women in Ajowa to always dispose their refuse after market in a way that refuse vans can evacuate them to dumping sites.
The health official appealed to traditional and ,religious leaders to lead vanguard of mobilisation and campaigns in support of good environment
The Onigedegede of Gedegede, Oba Walidu Sanni, commended government for her efforts in the area of public health, particularly the ongoing vaccination against COVID-19 .
Oba Sanni urged his subjects to embrace healthy lifestyle by making their environment clean all the time for their own benefit
