From Jimoh Ahmed, Ikare Akoko.
As the COVID-19 lockdown continues to have harsh economic conditions on the people, a call has gone to government at all levels in the country, corporate bodies and religious groups to alleviate the sufferings of the less privileged, aged and the poor.
The Zonal Pastor of the Christ Apostolic Church, Okeagbe Akoko, Pastor Festus Abiala made the call in his sermon yesterday during the church’s service.
Pastor Abiala urged well to do in the society to extend their benevolence and charity to others in order to bail them out of poverty, diseases and squalor which can lead to premature deaths.
The cleric commended individuals and corporate bodies that considered charity as necessary saying that God will surely reward them here on earth and in heaven.
He however called on Christians and Muslims alike to continue to pray fervently for the end of the pandemic.
