COVID-19: Osogbo residents laud Oyetola on safety measure

From Fisayo Akinduro, Osogbo

Residents of Osogbo Local Government area have lauded the State Government for evoking the strength of education and civic orientation in the enforcement of the COVID-19 safety protocols.
The COVID-19 Task Force in the State had earlier commenced the enforcement exercise in Osogbo, which saw non-adherents to the safety protocols against COVID-19 as advised by the NCDC, attend a compulsory safety course.
The “local boys” of Egbatedo who came enmass to the enlightenment centre, confessed that one of them who was apprehended was wrong for violating the safety guidelines of the government, adding that government’s choice of enlightenment as the tool of enforcing the safety protocols was a considerate option.
Addressing the agitated non-adherents at the centre, the leader of the Egbatedo boys, Comrade Olalekan Ojasope, said the government has proved itself as a responsible one by choosing to enlighten its citizens about the consequences of their violation of safety protocols, rather than imposing stern punishments.
Appealing to the consciousness of people, Ojasope said: “The COVID-19 pandemic is not visible, and so, we should take every recommended step towards protecting ourselves against it based on the directives of the government.
