Chairman, Parent Teachers Association, PTA, in Ondo South senatorial district, Mr Anthony Rasak, has appealed to the State Government to exercise patience with schools in the area assuring that the association will ensure that the schools are in total compliance with COVID-19 precautionary measures.
Meanwhile, Ondo State Government had threatened to close any school in the state both public or private that fails to uphold and enforce COVID-19 preventive measures, decried low level of compliance to COVID-19 preventive guidelines in some schools.
Speaking with The Hope on the development, the PTA, Chairman, commended the proactive efforts of the state government in curbing the spread of Covid-19 in our state.
“I think the government is trying its best while it is also acting according to our agreement that any school that fails to comply with the Covid 19 protocols should be closed.
But I still need to appeal to the State Government, we need more time to fulfill our promise perfectly since some schools still don’t have hand washing facilities, while students without nose masks were allowed into the school. But we are working on that,” he said.
However, Mr. Rasaki, bemoaned the nonchallent attitude of some schools in the area. According to him, some schools were not complying with the laid down rules in curbing the spread of this deadly virus, adding that he would not support anything contrary to their agreement with the State Government.
Mr Rasak, therefore called on school managements to be proactive and make it part of their daily activities by providing all preventive materials in their schools, like hand washing bowls, hand sanitizers and ensure the use of nose mask for both teachers and students.
“As we all know that students are sometimes rigid to control but we have to make it a task by monitoring them, it is for their our own safety. Any student without nose mask should be sent back home since their parents are also aware of Corona virus.” Rasak said.
While advising parents, to endeavor to provide nose mask for their wards, and should not leave everything to the government alone, he said individual support is also needed to combating the virus.
The chairman also urged teachers to be good examples to their students, as they cannot expect or force their students to comply with Covid-19 protocols while they are not even with any precautionary materials.”
