In addition to the efforts in combating the upsurge of COVID-19 in Okitipupa Local Government, the All Progressives Congress in the area has started massive awareness programmes in the media.
At the leaders meeting hosted in Akure few weeks back by the leader of Okitipupa Local Government APC, who is also the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Pastor Femi Agagu, the leaders set up two Committees to combat the ongoing spread of coronavirous in Okitipupa Local Government especially as there was a surge in community transmission in the area.
Agagu appealed to the people that COVID-19 is real, ” it is a global pandemic that government alone cannot handle, there’s need to cooperate by observing all the necessary protocols as rolled out by health authorities and “Together we will fight COVID-19 and together we will defeat it” , he said.
The chairman of the four-man Advocacy Team on COVID-19 Okitipupa LG APC, Chief Ola Iwaeni, charged on rededication, by obeying the public health measures such as physical distancing, washing of hands and the use of hand sanitizer so that we may defeat the virus.
“We must do all we can to defeat the virus hence the need for the ongoing COVID-19 awareness campaign jingles on Adaba FM and on Ikale-based Community radio, EJULENE FM” .
The messages on the radio jingles are on the need for people in the area to remain vigilant and keep adhering to the COVID–19 safety protocols set by different health agencies, nothing that the coronavirous pandemic is real and would hit us hard if people pay deaf ears to guidelines.
