Osun State Government has stated its readiness to test every willing resident to ensure that further spread of coronavirus is curtailed in the state.
Special Adviser to the governor on Public Health, Dr. Siji Olamiju who disclosed this said the state presently carries out the test on an average of 100 residents daily.
Olamiju, however, sought the assistance of the National Centre for Disease Control in order for the state to sustain its current testing capacity.
Olamiju, who said the state was able to test more residents for coronavirus because of the government’s provision of necessary kits.
He explained that whatever assistance that NCDC could render to the state would only complement what had been done already by the government.
“We are ready to test every willing resident. Our testing capacity has gone up. This is due to the support of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.
“But we are seeking for the assistance of NCDC. We want them to complement the effort of the Osun State Government by assisting us with testing kit
“We have tested on average over 100 people per day in the last few days. In fact, about three days ago, we tested about 120. Two days ago, it was over 100,” Olamiju concluded.
