Crisis over in Ondo APC

Crisis rocking Ondo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) appeared to be over as national leadership of the party yesterday converged on Akure the State capital and met with the warring members with a view to settling their differences.

The party leadership was led by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the former Interim National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, among other leaders, held a closed door meeting with the state leadership of the APC led by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, his deputy, Agboola Ajayi, and other APC chieftains in the state.

Also present at the peace meeting were former chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Isaacs Kekemeke, former governorship aspirant of the party in the last election in the state, Segun Abraham, Senator Tayo Alasoadura, Chief Olusola Oke (SAN) and former National Vice Chairman of the party South West, Chief Pius Akinyelure.

Others included the incumbent National Vice Chairman of the party in the South West, Bankole Oluwajana, chairman of the party in the state, Mr. Ade Adetimehin, a former federal lawmaker, Afe Olowookere, and Gani Dauda.

Speaking with journalists at the end of the extended meeting, former Interim National Chairman of the party, Chief Akande, explained that the essence of the meeting was to promote peace and unity within the party to ensure resounding victory in the coming polls.

He added that all the leaders of the party in the state have been directed to go back and reunite all members in the interest of the party.

The former governor of Osun State, however, expressed joy that the meeting was successful.

“We are happy now that APC is one in Ondo state,” he stressed.

On his part, the national leader of the APC, Asiwaju  Tinubu, noted that the party believe in conflict resolution mechanism to resolve issues.

He said he was happy that all leaders in the state have agreed to work together to bring lasting peace and unity back to the party in the state.

According to Tinubu, the APC caucus meeting in the state was to proffer solution to the lingering crisis among leaders.

Tinubu who stressed the need for all members to work and talk together ahead of the next election, equally  urged the leaders in the state to do the needful by restoring peace and unity to the party in the state.

While saying that charity must begin at home in order to win the next election in the state, the APC national leader thanked all for their perseverance and commitment to the party in the state.

After the meeting, the leaders later proceeded to The Dome for another brief meeting where former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba expressed happiness over the fruitful outcome of the meeting.

He congratulated all members for their commitment to the party, urging them to continue to work together in the interest of the party, saying a house divided again itself can not stand.

Also, the governor of Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, said the meeting would futher strengthen the peace and progress of the party in the state.

On his part, the host, Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu congratulated the party leaders and members for the success of the meeting.

He commended all the leaders for their commitment and positive contributions to the success of the peace meeting and progress of the party in the state.
