There was palpable fear in Owo as fear gripped the residents following of killings of two members of a cult groups.
As a result, the people of Owo have been going about with caution, watching their movements to avoid falling as another victim of the rampaging cultists.
Similarly parents have become apprehensive about what could happen in the next minute as they locked in their wards to prevent them from being the next target of the cult groups.
Information reaching our reporter revealed that a clash broke out on Monday night as two cult groups, the Eiye and Aiye confraternities battled for supremacy.
The fight broke out between the rival groups at Right Link Villa, Okanlawon street, opposite the main campus of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo over some misunderstandings.
According to eye witnessed who did not want their names to be published, when the fight broke out, two people were hacked to death as the cultists freely used cutlasses, cudgels, charms and other dangerous weapons on themselves.
At the end of the clash, two people who were believed to be students of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic and also members of one of the cult groups laid dead.
It was learnt that the dead cultists were hacked to death with their hands chopped off which signified the sign that they were killed by the members of the Aiye fraternity.
Meanwhile, efforts to get the reaction of the police in Owo failed as the DPO of ‘B’ Division could not be reached at the time of filing this report while the remote cause of the clash still remained sketchy.
