Cult clash claims 2 lives in Ondo

Ondo town, headquarters of Ondo West Local Government was on Monday night thrown into pandemonium, following a bloody clash that broke out between two rival cult groups in the community.

The Hope Metro reliably gathered  that  the two cult groups are, ‘Eye’ confraternity  and Aye cult group.

Although,  details of the incident which claimed the lives of the  two persons still remained, sketchy as at the time of filing this report.

It was however, reliably gathered that one of the deceased whose name was given as Olaleye Isiaka, who was said to be alleged leader of ‘Eye’ confraternity in the town had on the fateful day, while  in company of some of his colleagues gone to a liquor joint located at Akure motor park in the town, when a clash broke out  with another group called Ayee confraternity.

It was learnt that while they were at the area, some group of boys suddenly emerged from the street and started  shooting sporadically, the development which made people around the area to  run away for their dear lives.

The late Isiaka was said to have made frantic efforts to escape from the scene after which several guns shot fired on him refused to penetrate into his body.  But he  was said to have been  attacked  later with cudgels  which led to his death.

Few minutes later the remains of one other person whose identity was yet to be known as at the time of filing this report was later discovered  to be Iyalaje area of the town.

Meanwhile, the news of the death of the victims, have continued to elicit reactions in the town, as several road blocks were mounted by the policemen  in some strategic locations in the community , following a rumour that another rival cult group, whose member was killed was planning  on a  revenge mission for killing their members.

When newsmen went round the town, several residents of the town including shop owners wore sad look while  some were seen sitting in groups discussing the development.

As at the time of filling this report police officers were seen patrolling strategic locations in the community, apparently to forestall further breaking of law and orders. While security has been beefed up in the town to forestall possible reprisal attack from some groups of people who are said to be planning to avenge the death of the victim.
