Curfew: Ikare residents defy govt’s order

Residents of Ikare-Akoko have defiled the government 24-hour curfew imposed on the town.
Investigations revealed that some residents were seen moving about but commercial activities remained paralysed.
Some hoodlums have also defied the order and attacked Gidigbe House, a building housing banks and firms as well as law offices.
The hoodlums, according to a victim broke window glasses and damaged doors of the building at about 12noon yesterday
The building belongs to immediate past Owa Ale of Ikare Akoko, Oba Samuel Kolapo Adegbite Adedoyin
A lawyer, who is also a victim of the attack, Mr. Aminu Folajimi who spoke with our reporter on phone said the hoodlums who came in their numbers damaged all the glasses and doors of the building.
“My law office has just been attacked by hoodlums in the ongoing disturbance in Ikare. Office windows completely destroyed. I am very lucky to escape with my life”, Aminu said.
Aminu who operates his law office in the building said the police in Ikare have inspected the scene and extent of damage to the building.
Efforts to speak with the police in Ikare was not successful.
