Mr Mohammed Shuaibu, Area Comptroller of the NCS Ogun 1 Area Command, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Ota, Ogun State.
According to Shuaibu, the seizures highlight the command’s ongoing efforts to curb smuggling and ensure adherence to NCS regulations.
The confiscated items include 2,002 bags of 50kg foreign rice, 6,180 cutlasses, and 6,375 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), among others.
“The Ogun 1 Area Command is appealing to those who engage in smuggling to desist from such act because no matter how smart they are, they would be caught.
“The smugglers should embrace legitimate trade in order to grow Nigeria’s economy,” he stated.
Shuaibu reaffirmed the command’s commitment to safeguarding the nation’s borders and reducing smuggling activities.
He further urged the public to collaborate with the NCS by providing reliable and timely information to assist in tackling smuggling and other economic crimes at the borders.
