The accident which occurred on January 23, 2021, close to the University gate claimed the lives of 10 students when the truck lost control.
The Dangote team had visited the school campus to commence the immortalization of the deceased students who lost their lives to the tragic accident.
The new development was in response to the ultimatum given by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) and the AAUA students union to the Dangote group to compensate the bereaved families and immortalise the deceased as promised.
Their request, according to a statement by the NANS Vice President External Affairs, Comr. Akinteye Babatunde Afeez has yielded a positive result, affirming that the process has begun and it is going to be completed soon.
“Today, I join the leadership of AAUA SU, and the management of Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba-Akoko to welcome the representatives of DANGOTE group to the institution. This is our demand to immortalise our beloved departed students who lost their lives to the unfortunate ghastly accident caused by the Dangote truck three years ago.
“To this effect, Dangote made promises assuring us that the deceased would be immortalised, no doubt part of the promises was fulfilled.
“Having waited, yet with no progress to our demand, some weeks ago, we stood up to the struggle again in conjunction with AAUASU and issued another statements.
“Today, the Dangote team visited AAUA to start the immortalisation process and also promised to make it nimble. The process has begun and we’re confident it will be completed in earnest,” he stated.
