The defendant allegedly committed the offence between September, 2022 at about 10:am in Akure in the Akure Magisterial District.

The defendant, who is facing two-count of fraud and conversion of funds, was arraigned before Magistrate Sunday Adedapo on Tuesday.

The prosecutor, Inspector Abayomi Jejeniwa told the court that the defendant obtained N2.7million from Obadayo Ayoola under the pretence of selling Toyota Muscle Camry car 2008 model to him, which he knew to be false.

The offence committed contravenes and punishable under Sections 419 and 383 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 37, Volume. 1, Laws of Ondo State Nigeria, 2006.

The defendant who was charged for alleged fraud pleaded not guilty to the offence leveled against him.

The prosecutor therefore prayed for the adjournment of the case in order to go through the case file.

The defence counsel, Daniel Oni prayed the court to grant his client bail in most liberal term, promising that the defendant would provide credible and reliable sureties.

In his ruling, Magistrate Sunday Adedapo, however, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N700,000 with two sureties in like sum and the case was adjourned till August 21,2023 for hearing.
