The management of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo (RUGIPO) has disclosed that it is conducting a thorough investigation into the gruesome murder of an ND1 student who was in the Department of Mass Communication.

In a telephone interview with the Public Relations Officer of the Institution, Mr. Samuel Ojo, he noted that the police were already involved in the matter and investigation had commenced.

Ojo said, “The police is involved and investigation is ongoing, when you called me in the morning and  you asked whether it is a cult related matter,  I said no.

“The school of course cannot afford to be silent. We have our  own independent panel of investigation. We are still looking into the matter.

Recall that The Hope had exclusively reported that the deceased simply identified as Oluwaseun was killed by unknown persons.

A student of the institution who craved anonymity told The Hope that the deceased, who had barely spent a month as a new student was a Course Representative and Muscian.

“He was a fresher that has just spent three-four weeks on campus. Infact he was a course representative but it was sad we lost him. Sadly, he was matcheted,” the source said.
