‘Defection to PDP not a threat’

‘Defection to PDP not a threat’

From Fisayo Akinduro, Osogbo

The Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Prince Gboyega Famodun, has appraised the recent political development in the South-West geopolitical zone of the country with an observation that it is not in any way a threat to the soaring fortune of the APC in the state.

The state party chairman in a statement issued by his Media Consultant, Kola Olabisi, in Osogbo stated that the usual movement of some politicians to and from one party to their preferred new one is not a new thing in the Nigerian political terrain.

Famodun hinted that such vertical and horizontal movements of some notable politicians of reactionary extraction as witnessed in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital few days ago during the South-West Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) rally, would not be the first and the last.

He disclosed that the occasion could better be described as one of the events merely designed to fill the apparent lull in political activities in the South-West geopolitical zone of the nation.

The state party chairman said there was no way the theatrical political display orchestrated by the renowned association of serial political losers could be a source of causing sleepless night for the obviously performing administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola.

He stated further that the recent Ibadan show of theatrical political movements of some reactionary gladiators back to their vomit went further to corroborate some provisions of the nation’s constitution that it is part of the inalienable fundamental rights of Nigerians to freely exercise freedom of movement and association without causing hardship to another Nigerian or foreigner legally living in this country.

Famodun however, congratulated his party on the self-exit of representatives of darkness in the APC who had hitherto been pretending as worthy members and leaders adding value to same but secretly working underneath to compromise the ideal of the party.

He said, the new Ibadan political episode could be likened to a situation whereby it was when it became difficult for the light and darkness to cohabit in the same political terrain that light summarily gave way.

Famodun counselled those who have been rejoicing over the movement of the fairweathered political gladiators to keep watch over their activities as it is doubtful if not that they are merely only at a bus stop of their political sojourn who would readily replicate such movement in future for flimsy reasons best known to them.

The state party chairman disclosed that he has solace in the fact that the progressive administration currently in place in Osun State under the leadership of Governor Oyetola is performing optimally despite glaring paucity of fund it has to contend with.

In his words: “It is no longer news that the administration of Governor Oyetola has been fulfilling all its campaign promises to the good people of Osun State.

“Even the opposition in the state and beyond could not hide their excitement over the numerous people-oriented policies of the governor who is always on hand to listen to the yearnings of the people”, he said.

Famodun enjoined the people of the state not to waiver in their continuous support for Oyetola’s administration to enable him improve on the dividends of democracy his government has been diligently dishing out to the nooks and crannies of the state.
