The Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, Odundun II, has appointed Air Commodore Adewale Ogunmodede (Rtd) as the Chairman of the Akure Development Summit 2026, scheduled to hold next year.
In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Deji, Mr. Adeyeye Michael, on Monday, the summit aims to address the various socio-economic challenges confronting Akure land and to chart a sustainable path for its development.
According to the statement, the summit is part of Oba Aladetoyinbo’s broader vision to bring together the sons and daughters of Akure, both at home and in the diaspora, to deliberate on the future of the kingdom and explore practical solutions for growth and progress.
Oba Aladetoyinbo expressed strong confidence in Air Commodore Ogunmodede’s leadership, describing him as a “seasoned professional and patriotic son of Akure” capable of steering the committee toward meaningful outcomes.
“I do not doubt his ability to lead a team that will midwife a positive and impactful discourse for the development of Akure,” the Monarch said.
The upcoming summit is expected to serve as a watershed moment in the quest for the advancement and prosperity of Akure land.
Air Commodore Ogunmodede (Rtd) is a distinguished military diplomat who previously served as Nigeria’s Defence Attaché to Belarus, Estonia, Finland, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Moldova, and Russia, among others. He also played a key role as a member of the Central Planning Committee for the 10th Coronation Anniversary of the Deji of Akure.
