In a bid to fortify Sunshine Stars for optimum result, the management of the team has reportedly hired Ayodeji Alexander Ayeni as head coach to replace departed Gbenga Ogunbote.
It was gathered that Ayeni was given the position which became vacant following the resignation of Ogunbote last week after going 16 matches without a win.
Ayeni, who is currently the Head Coach of Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Ekiti United was reportedly given the nod with a task of getting the team back to winning ways and avoid relegation.
It was gathered that Ayeni, the former Osun United and Cynosure tactician was at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi for the Lobi Stars vs Sunshine Stars game on Sunday evening to have a closer assessment of the squad.
The new coach will be assisted by Adeyemi Kayode, Kamil Folarin, Kayode Emmanuel and Olu Busuyi.
When the Sporting Hope contacted Sunshine Stars’ Team Manager, Tokunbo Akintelure, he confirmed the talk between the team and the coach, saying both parties are yet to reach an agreement at the time of filling his report.
“We are still talking to him, we are not yet reach agreement, we hope we both agree to work together, he said.”
